Dublin Farmers' Market: May 8th

When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste.

Laiko Bahrs

A journalist recently asked, "Why are farmers' markets gaining so much popularity lately?"

While there are plenty of reasons for the growth and momentum of farmers' markets, it's the simple fact that consumers want a greater connection with their food source. They want to know who grew it, where they grew it, when it was picked, what's the variety, how to cook it, how to store it... They want to ask questions. And they want to ask the farmer, the baker, or the jam maker. Ask the average grocery store clerk about the variety of carrots you're buying. Do you suppose they know, or care?

People want to feel more connected to the food that graces their table. At the Dublin Farmers' Market, you're talking to the farmer or the baker. They'll tell you when they picked it. They'll tell you how they canned their jam. They'll tell you where they get the flour for their bread. Our vendors are happy to answer your questions. Visit the Dublin Farmers' Market, and get to know your food!
